Josh roos

Josh is a native Nebraskan, born into a pastor’s family that eventually moved to Mexico as missionaries for four years (as a result, he speaks fluent Spanish). At age nine, Josh started playing Alto Saxophone in his school band.  He played Lead roles in the Lexington High School Marching Band, Concert Band, Drumline and a select Jazz Band.  He was also an avid performer in school musicals and show choir.  Josh began Guitar at age twelve and continued through high school, college and beyond. 

 He graduated Valedictorian of Lexington High School in Nebraska and went on full scholarship to the University of Nebraska.  There he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Triple Major in Psychology, Spanish and International Studies and Minors in Political Science and Communications. He was a Regents scholar on the Deans List and served as Chaplain for his Fraternity.  He is also a graduate from the School of Ministry at Bethel Church in Redding, CA, where he met his lovely wife Liz.

liz roos

Liz began playing Piano at age three.  She performed “Fur Elise” at the Manhattan School of Music at age five – the first of many concert piano performances.  She studied under world-renown Juilliard piano professor and author Lorina Havill.  Liz has performed in a variety of venues which include accompaniment to various musicals, weddings, choir accompaniment and playing with church worship bands. Her students will be educated in music theory and proper technique through a variety of music genres including Classical, Pop, Broadway and more.

In 1995, Liz obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University. She is a graduate of the prestigious Bethel School of Worship in Redding, CA where she studied under Paul Baloche, Jeremy Riddle, Brian & Jenn Johnson and Bethel Music.  In 2013, Liz graduated from the School of Ministry at the Vineyard Church of Laguna Niguel, CA.

John Carter

John Carter is a voice, film and television actor who started guitar at age 10. Interesting fact - he was born in Eureka and moved to Manhattan Beach at 4 years old. Growing up watching his father record live music with popular bands inspired him to pursue a musical career. He also loves to play the piano and violin and sing. He has studied under Josh Roos and is committed to helping his students grow in their musical talents.

As a brother of 2 sisters who are also actors and musicians, he loves working with kids and enjoys serving in kids ministries. Second to teaching guitar is teaching surfing. When he is not teaching or playing guitar, he enjoys serving at his local church.  John is a member of the local Shoreline Church of San Clemente.

Casi Kurzeja

Casi Kurzeja began her formal piano and vocal training at age 5 in the suburbs of Chicago.  She has studied under Ms. Flood Amory, Mary Lagere, Thomas Doody and Liz Roos. 

As the oldest of 4 siblings, she loves working with children. She is passionate about sharing the freedom and confidence that music has given her to the next generation of musicians. Her goal is to equip them with the training necessary to develop their passions and talents - whether it is to be a professional singer, worship leader or classical pianist.

When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and writing. She is a missionary with YWAM (Youth With A Mission).  Over the years she has done youth ministry and outreaches in Australia, India, Malaysia, France, Greece, Costa Rica and Mexico. Casi attends Mountain View Church and is an active member of her community.

carson rector

Carson Rector has studied guitar under Josh Roos and also belongs to the advanced guitar program at JSerra. Not only he is an amazing guitarist and vocalist - he is an outstanding member of the San Clemente community.  As a volunteer through Lions Heart he has served over 30 hours of community service every year for the past 4 years.

He is an active member of the Junior Honors Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Boy Scouts of America and the JSerra Business Magnet Program. 

When Carson is not teaching or playing guitar, he loves to lead worship for his small group at Pacific Coast Church in San Clemente. Another one of his passions is sports  - he is currently on the football and lacrosse teams at JSerra. He is definitely a positive role model to the youth of our community.
